The size — Hyatt Ziva Cancun was the perfect scale to actually spend meaningful time with all 86 guests throughout the week. Kortney says she loved everything about the resort and honestly isn't sure she could stay at another all-inclusive after experiencing the Hyatt Ziva. That says it all.

Skip the resort's official pre-wedding trip and arrive a few days before your guests instead. Sean and Kortney did exactly that — met with their wedding coordinator, had all the details sorted in a couple of hours, enjoyed the spa, a couples massage, and a private dinner overlooking the ocean. The coordinators at Hyatt Ziva know exactly what they are doing and the pre-trip simply isn't necessary.

💡 Arrival tip from Sean & Kortney Arriving a few days early gives you quiet time together before the celebration begins — and it's the perfect opportunity to invite family to arrive early too, before the friend group descends. Having that more personal time with close relatives before the party starts made a big difference for them, and it's something they'd recommend to every couple planning a destination wedding.

The TRS Coral Hotel pool was the heart of their week — so much fun. They also loved the resort's activity programming, especially the poolside pilates classes. A resort that keeps guests genuinely entertained throughout the week makes all the difference for a wedding group.

Advice to Other Couples

Book a room block for the entire week and encourage your guests to join you for a full vacation — not just the wedding night. You get so much more time with the people you love, and the shared memories throughout the week make the whole celebration richer. Plan fun group excursions, but also carve out a day at the spa or quiet time with your partner. Both matter.

⚠️ Important tip from Caylee & Will Do NOT mail wedding décor or personal items from the United States to Mexico. They mailed vow books, customized napkins, matchboxes, and cocktail stirrers to the resort in advance — and the package never arrived. Pack everything you need for your wedding week in a separate piece of luggage and carry it through customs at the airport. Don't let this happen to you.

Anniversary Plans

A return to the Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya — where they spent three nights after the wedding for a mini moon that was absolutely breathtaking. They can't wait to go back.

The location and layout of Hyatt Ziva Cancun — multiple beaches, multiple pools, and plenty of bars, yet surprisingly easy to navigate for a large wedding group. Guests could always find each other and hang out together throughout the week, which made the whole celebration feel connected from arrival to departure.

Golf — Cancún has excellent courses nearby and it's a great way for guests to spend a free day off the resort.

And during whale season, they spotted 10+ whales a day right from the resort.

Take time with each person who came to celebrate with you — that's what the week is really about. Don't sweat the small things. The memories, the people, the music, and the views are what make the night so special. Enjoy yourself! Take time with your significant other. Make a list of everything you want to do and experience during your trip — and make it happen.

One Thing They'd Do Differently

Stick with the resort's own vendors for the DJ and flowers. Outside vendors can be less expensive but the stress of someone showing up late simply isn't worth it on your wedding day.
