Favorite Wedding Memory

The dance floor under the stars, next to the ocean — with every single person who truly loves them. As Katie put it: the best part of a destination wedding is that only the people who really care about you show up. Everyone was beyond excited to be there, and it showed all night long.

Favorite Thing About the Resort

The wedding team — especially Danilka, who made every detail of the planning process effortless. As a Preferred Club guest, Chris and Katie were assigned a butler who sent a daily newsletter, handled restaurant reservations, organized events, and followed up on every question throughout the week. The resort DJ was exceptional — one of the best Katie has ever experienced. And the officiant surpassed every expectation.

Excursions

Deep sea fishing, a snorkeling happy hour, and golf at two different courses for Chris — who was connected to a course that wasn't even available online through the resort. Katie's strong advice: don't book excursions in advance. Wait until you arrive at the resort and book through them directly. Chris got steep discounts that way, and others who joined the snorkeling happy hour received discounted pricing too.

Advice to Other Couples

Planning a wedding abroad doesn't follow the same timeline as a wedding in the US. It may feel slow at the start — like you're being put on the back burner. But the moment you arrive at the resort, you become the wedding coordinator's number one priority. Everything comes together. Trust the process.

⚠️ Know your wedding package inside and out Make sure you know exactly what is included in your wedding package and don't be afraid to stand firm on it. Katie had a 6-person hydrotherapy session included in her package. At the spa, they tried to charge her for it — until she insisted they call Danilka. Know what you're entitled to, keep a copy of your package details with you, and don't hesitate to escalate if something doesn't match what was promised.
